Dear Santa, I think I’ve seen enough white for one Christmas…
Santa, we’ve been partners in this deal for quite some time now. I use the term “partners” loosely, Santa. I let folks say you brought it for them, while I’m the one making the gift. So, I’ve got some news for you this time Santa…I’m giving you a job to do this Christmas. That’s right. No more sitting up on your bum in the North Pole getting all my credit..Not this year, partner.
Let me tell you why my attitude has suddenly changed, Santa. Quite frankly, I’ve given up on the idea of getting lots of knits done for folks this Christmas, I always start off with these lofty goals and they just never come to fruition. I always wind up going back to my usual quick projects…This year is no different.
But what is different this year is I’m stuck in the middle of all this WHITE, Santa! It just doesn’t quit! I really think that this is more than four ounces, sir. As you may know, I’ve come to find that large amounts of monotone spinning drives me nuts. But, this is the spin for the mill, Santa. At least, at the end of the day, I feel like I’ve done a good thing. Still, it is one of the reasons why the nature of our partnership this year must be revisited.
The other reason…You ought to already know what that is. Or should I say who that is? While I got to finish the majority of the spinning yesterday, Girl Child was sick. She wanted me near her. So there we were. She laying, me spinning. Though much less tiring for me, it was so sad to see her not ripping and running around like usual. This season has not been so good to her health-wise…But she rectified all that today. She’s singing again and running all through the house, dumping bags of chips on tables again…even sneaking candy canes off the tree. Just can’t stop her! She’s a handful either way. And the taller she gets, she needs more eyes and hands than I’ve got, that’s for sure! And because the first week of December has already come and gone, there’s no way that keeping track of her is going to get any easier with these project deadlines…I don’t suppose you’ll be babysitting this year either? Didn’t think so.
So, now that she’s up and about, the spinning is going a little slower…but it’s getting done, no thanks to you, Santa. This first 400+ yards looks pretty good. Just needs to be washed now. And since a bobbin is free, I can start on the next skein. Should be putting this project to bed around about my own bedtime tonight. Sweet!
So, remember, Santa…This season when you come through…I’ll bring the cookies and milk, AS ALWAYS…
You just bring the extra candy canes.
Bye for now,
